Managing Personal Change

 

 

This article I’ve written delivers information about managing personal change.  I’d like to point out that while cannabis creates homeostasis from which all other health benefits can come, one still needs to look at personal lifestyle choices to create health and wellness.  This is particularly true for those suffering from chronic physical conditions, and those with PTSD and anxiety. Finally, after the article, I hope you will enjoy the meditation I have provided to assist you with grounding and staying in the moment.

 

In the midst of personal change, fear can often erupt. Worry then ensues. These two things, fear and worry, serve no positive purpose in managing change. Well really, they serve no positive purpose in any part of our lives.

So how does one limit the fear and worry when change is happening and an inevitable part of life?
The mind is the most important piece of the puzzle to maintaining rationality and making decisions that will achieve a positive change. When you have your mind right and are staying positive and rational, you can do anything! Your mind tells you what needs to be done. Listen to it, but only with a rational tone. If it starts running away with itself it’s time to rope it in and bring it into balance. Fear and love are inversely proportional. So reduce the fear about the change by showing yourself love and kindness. You could do any or all of the following: Take some time to exercise, go for a walk, ride your bike, walk your dog, or practice deep breathing, Make sure you are nourishing your body, and are eating for health. Try some simple meditation. Remind yourself that you have a 100% track record for getting through other changes in your life. If you can, write some positive affirmations on pieces of paper and put them around your house where you can see them. These things will keep your mind positive and rational.

Once you feel you have decreased the fear and worry sufficiently, then ask yourself, “what do I need to accomplish to get through this change?” This is the action that is necessary to make the change. So answer your question! Start a list of these things with everything you can think of. Even if the list is starting to get long, don’t allow that to increase your fear and worry again. This is a list of things you will do over time. You may want to put time frames on each item if that will help you to sort out the time you need to get through the change you are making. You are in the drivers seat of this change. You are not a victim, and it is not driving you!

The fact is, this change might just help you onto the path that you really want. Check in with yourself about that, and about what you heart is wanting, what your higher self is needing, what your true self feels about the change that you are making. It is a good idea to journal these thoughts to help you sort them out. If journaling doesn’t work for you, then sit quietly and sort out what you feel about the change with regard to your life path, your heart and your higher self. By taking the time to feed the heart and soul, and listen to it, you will find that your head will continue to decrease in fear and worry.

As I said at the start, change in life is inevitable. We can only control our reaction to it, and how we manage it. When we do this, we are caring for and loving ourselves. This is an essential element of good health and well-being.

Successfully Planning A Road Trip

Every day, people travel from one place to another without realizing how much of an accomplishment it is. How successful your daily road trips are is owed to your careful planning. It’s the kind of feat that you should take a moment to sit and appreciate, but business calls.

  When you do get to road trip on your own time, plan it as you would for work. This  may be considered to be stressful, but it’s necessary to get your priorities straightened out.  In this way you are taking care of your own personal wellness, insuring a smooth trip and reducing stress overall.  And, once you’ve overcome this phase, the new horizons you find will be all the sweeter. That’s why this article is going to give you four simple ways to plan your road trip for success.

Plan Your Route

  The moment you have a destination in mind is the time to decide if it’s route is drivable. Chances are you may have access to a GPS, but these can sometimes lead you astray.

  Go over the route to and from your destination so you’re prepared to make your own travel adjustments. Check if your intended route has any road construction on it. You might have to use a rural back road, and those have lower speed limits that can delay your arrival. Rest stops can be every couple of miles, or at your convenience.

Car Checks

  The nightmare scenario for every road trip is having your car break down miles from civilization. Be it cross-country or interstate, the long haul is going to depend on your car’s health.

  Bring your vehicle into your most trusted mechanic for an inspection and oil change. Ask the mechanic for the amount of mileage your car can go without wearing down the engine. If you don’t have a spare tire on your car, then get one in case of a blowout. It also helps to be a AAA member.

Call Ahead

  Let’s say you’re going to Memphis, Tennessee to shop for a new house. Wouldn’t it make sense to call a Memphis real estate agent weeks ahead to schedule an appointment?

  Calling ahead can keep you on your toes knowing that someone expects your business when you arrive. This is true if you plan to stay overnight at a hotel, and don’t want to scrap for any available room. Before you visit local attractions, check to see if you need to buy tickets. In the case of free admission, ask for hours of operation.

Pack Smart

  Journeys of any length mean having enough supplies to get you there and back. Packing light emphasizes the bare necessities while making room for the stuff you bring back.

  Clothing should be limited to what you have on, plus what you need for the days of your trip. Basic self-care needs like toiletries, deodorants, and shampoos are offered by hotels, but it never hurts to pack them anyway. Keep a small cooler on hand with beverages and snacks for the long ride. Entertainment options should be portable and low maintenance. Just don’t forget the phone chargers.

Also in your light pack, don’t forget any supplements or medications you may need. Additionally, keeping within your own wellness routines will help you to enjoy the trip more and reduce risk of illness or unnecessary personal challenges. 

With these 4 elements in mind, you should be able to focus more on the most important part of your trip: Enjoying it!
